One former University of Tennessee basketball player competed in the NBA summer league Friday.
Yves Pons played seven minutes for Brooklyn. Milwaukee defeated the Nets, 94-90, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Pons was 0-for-2 from the floor with both of his field goal attempts coming from beyond the 3-point arc.
A Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Year during his time with the Vols, Pons signed with Memphis last season. He played for the Grizzlies last summer in both Las Vegas and Salt Lake City. Pons was undrafted after leaving Tennessee.
He was a two-way player in Memphis, splitting time between Memphis and the Memphis Hustle, the team’s NBA G-League affiliate.
In 12 games for the Grizzlies last season, Pons averaged 1.1 points and 1.0 rebounds per game.
He averaged 9.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game for the Hustle, while appearing in nine games.
