A pair of former University of Tennessee basketball players competed in the NBA Monday. Another was inactive for his team’s home game.
Josh Richardson and Grant Williams made significant contributions for Boston in its 98-92 victory over the Cavaliers at Rocket Mortgage Arena in Cleveland.
Richardson played 25 minutes, totaling nine points, five rebounds, two blocks and one assist.
Richardson went 4-for-6 from the floor and 1-for-2 from beyond the three point arc.
Williams scored 11 points for the Celtics. He was 4-for-7 from the floor and went 3-for-6 from long range. He played 24 minutes and finished with four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
In Memphis, rookie Yves Pons was inactive in the Grizzlies’ 136-102 victory over Houston at FedEx Forum.
