A pair of former University of Tennessee basketball players were in action in the NBA Wednesday night and both made significant contributions as their respective teams posted big wins.
In Philadelphia, 76ers’ forward Tobias Harris was back after missing two games due to a right knee injury and he scored 11 of his team’s 13 points in overtime. Philadelphia notched a 131-123 victory over Utah in a battle of conference leaders at Wells Fargo Center.
Harris finished the contest against Utah (27-9) with 22 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal and a blocked shot.
He started and played 38 minutes for the 76ers (24-12), who overcame a 61-52 halftime deficit.
Harris went 9-for-18 from the field, but was 0-for-3 from beyond the 3-point arc. He was 5-for-5 from the free throw line.
Meanwhile in Dallas, Josh Richardson scored 16 points and pulled down six rebounds to help the Mavericks notch an 87-78 victory over Oklahoma City at American Airlines Center.
Richardson started and logged 35 minutes for the Mavericks (18-16). He was 5-for-14 from the floor, 1-for-8 from long range and a perfect 5-for-5 from the foul line.
He had four steals against the Thunder (14-21).
