A pair of former University of Tennessee basketball players were in action in the NBA Friday night and both saw their respective teams lose.
In Boston, the Celtics came up on the short end of a 107-96 decision against Sacramento at TD Garden.
Grant Williams scored three points, pulled down one rebound and dished out an assist for Boston (20-21).
Williams, a first-round draft pick in 2019, logged 17 minutes and recorded a steal against the Kings (17-24). He was 1-for-3 from the floor with his lone bucket coming from beyond the 3-point arc.
Meanwhile in Portland, Josh Richardson scored four points in Dallas’ 125-119 loss to the Trail Blazers at Moda Center.
Richardson started and played 36 minutes for the Mavericks (21-19). He had six rebounds and dished out one assist.
The former Vol also recorded one steal and blocked a shot against Portland (25-16).
He struggled offensively, going 2-for-9 from the field and 0-for-2 from 3-point range.
