The NBA has recently been affected by COVID-19 as many teams, including the Boston Celtics, have had games postponed due to coronavirus concerns, including positive tests and contact tracing.
The Celtics returned to the hardwood Friday night.
Former University of Tennessee standout Grant Williams also returned to action after being quarantined.
Williams, a forward and 2019 first-round draft pick by the Celtics in 2019, made his first start of the 2020-21 season in Boston’s 124-97 victory over the Orlando Magic at TD Garden Friday night.
Williams, the No. 22 overall selection by the Celtics in 2019, played 23 minutes. He scored two points and pulled down nine rebounds for Boston (8-3).
Meanwhile, another former UT star, Jordan Bone, appeared in the contest for the Magic (5-6). The guard scored nine points and grabbed nine rebounds for Orlando.
Bone signed a two-way deal to split time between Orlando and its NBA G-League affiliate, the Lakeland Magic, prior to the start of the season.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks dropped a 112-109 decision to the Milwaukee Bucks at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
Former Vol guard Josh Richardson was one of several players for the Mavericks (6-5) to miss the game due to COVID-19 concerns.
