Two former University of Tennessee basketball players were in action in the NBA on Feb. 3.
Boston’s Grant Williams and Dallas’ Josh Richardson were on the hardwood.
Williams and the Celtics dropped a 116-111 decision to the Kings at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
Williams scored five points and pulled down five rebounds for Boston (11-9) against the Kings. He had three offensive rebounds and went 1-for-3 from the floor, making a 3-point shot. All of his field goal attempts came from beyond the 3-point arc.
Williams, a second-year NBA player, played 15 minutes against the Kings (10-11).
He left Tennessee after his junior season in 2019 as the two-time Southeastern Conference Player of the Year.
Williams was later a first-round draft pick by the Celtics, going with the No. 22 overall selection in the 2019 NBA draft.
Richardson scored 22 points and recorded four rebounds as the Mavericks edged the Hawks, 122-116, at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
With the win, Dallas improved to 9-13 and snapped a 6-game losing streak.
