Two former University of Tennessee basketball players competed in the NBA Wednesday. One did not play due to a coach’s decision and another was inactive.
In Orlando, Atlanta defeated the Magic, 130-109, at Amway Center.
Admiral Schofield played 19 minutes for Orlando. He had eight points, five rebounds and one assist.
Schofield was 3-for-7 from the field and 2-for-4 from beyond the 3-point arc.
In Boston, the Celtics fell to Detroit, 112-111, at TD Garden. The loss ended Boston’s eight-game winning streak.
Grant Williams made his second consecutive start for the Celtics at power forward and logged 41 minutes. He had 17 points, three rebounds, two blocks and three assists against the Pistons.
In Memphis, Portland outlasted the Grizzlies, 123-119. at FedEx Forum.
Rookie Keon Johnson did not play for the Trail Blazers due to a coach’s decision and Yves Pons was inactive for Memphis.
