Former Tennessee pitcher Chase Silseth earned a win Friday against the Tennessee Smokies.
Silseth (3-0) recorded nine strikeouts in the Rocket City Trash Pandas’ 4-1 win against Tennessee in Madison, Alabama.
The Trash Pandas are a Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels.
Silseth made his Major League Baseball debut in May for the Angels.
Silseth was selected by the Angels in the 11th round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft.
He pitched for Tennessee during the 2019 season. As a freshman in 2019, Silseth appeared in 18 games for the Vols. He was 1-1 with a 4.35 ERA and recorded 24 strikeouts.
Silseth transferred from Tennessee to the College of Southern Nevada in 2020. During the shortened 2020 campaign due to the coronavirus pandemic, he had a 3-2 record, 2.10 ERA and 46 strikeouts.
Silseth transferred to Arizona in 2021. The Wildcats advanced to the College World Series.
Silseth is from Piedra Vista High School in Farmington, New Mexico.
