Former Vol Maleik Gray wins national championship at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College

PITTSBURG — Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College defeated Lackawanna College, 24-13, in the NJCAA junior college football national championship game in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Former Tennessee wide receiver Maleik Gray transferred from UT to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in August and totaled 11 receptions, 167 yards and scored two touchdowns this season.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College finished the 2019 season with a 12-0 record.

Gray played in one game in 2018 for the Vols and redshirted. The Lavergne, Tenn. native played in two games for UT during the 2017 season.

The 6-foot-2, 198-pound receiver played at Lavergne High School.
