Former Vikings QB Taylor Heinicke replaces Haskins in Washington

Heinicke played pretty solid while replacing the former first-round pick.

Things continue to not go great for Washington quarterback Dwayne Haskins, the team’s 2019 first-round pick.

On Sunday against the Panthers, Haskins was benched after throwing two interceptions. With Alex Smith already out (which is why Haskins was starting in the first place), Haskins’ replacement was former Vikings quarterback Taylor Heinicke.

Heinicke started his NFL career with the Vikings from 2015-16.

It was Heinicke’s first appearance since 2018.

He was actually pretty solid in filling in for Haskins, throwing for 137 yards and a touchdown.

We’ll see if Heinicke, Haskins or Smith starts on Sunday against the Eagles. If Washington wins, it will make the playoffs with a 7-9 record.
