Former Vikings LB Chad Greenway thinks Anthony Harris has handled the franchise tag great

“They care about [Anthony Harris],” Chad Greenway said. “They care about him as a player, as a person and I think that’s what really matters and you’re not going to see that across the NFL.”

The Vikings gave Anthony Harris a franchise tag, and Harris signed his tender this offseason.

Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins recently said, when talking about Harris on ESPN, ” I believe the franchise tag can be your friend. I don’t think it’s something to be disappointed with. I think it enables you to be well compensated.”

Greenway also thinks the tag can be a positive thing. He said that Harris has been great about handling it so far. He gave insight to Vikings.com’s Gabe Henderson about when he was franchise tagged with the Vikings.

“That was a blessing to me,” Greenway told Henderson. “Coach [Leslie] Frazier called me and said ‘we’re going to place the franchise tag on you.’ And when I heard that, I took that as ‘this is a team that wants to commit to me and wants to be able to give themselves more time.'”

Greenway also said an important thing about the Vikings organization is that it cares about its players.

“They care about [Harris],” Greenway said. “They care about him as a player, as a person and I think that’s what really matters and you’re not going to see that across the NFL.”
