Former Vikings player Tom Johnson has nine NFL seasons under his belt, and now he’s calling it a career.
“I’m old,’’ Johnson told Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. “I’m 35 years old. I still have a little more juice. I want to be able to enjoy the rest of my life. I’ve done enough to be able to sustain a comfortable lifestyle.’’
The NFL veteran played with the Vikings, Seahawks and Saints in his NFL career.
In 2017, he started all but one game with Minnesota, tallying 32 tackles and two sacks. In 2018, he split time with Seahawks and Vikings.
He told Tomasson that there was “talk” about the Vikings re-signing him in March of 2019 but no offer was made.
“I was an older guy, so it definitely was in their best interests to get a younger guy to do the job that they thought was the best for them,’’ Johnson told Tomasson.
He still roots for Minnesota, though.
“I’m still a Vikings fan, so I push for them every Sunday.’’
