Former USC linebacker Chip Banks is in serious condition after getting shot in Georgia, according to a report from TMZ.
Banks was apparently the victim of a targeted attack that included two other victims, one who was pronounced dead at the scene and another who, like Banks, is currently fighting for his life.
The latest report says that Banks is in serious condition, and the Atlanta Police Department is currently conducting an investigation.
Banks starred at USC from 1978-1981, becoming the third overall pick in the 1982 NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns.
He immediately found success in the league, winning the 1982 Defensive Rookie of the Year award and making the first of his four Pro Bowls, all which came in his first five NFL seasons. Banks retired after the 1992 season, finishing with 46 sacks in 138 games played.
