Charlotte Motor Speedway is expected to have a shocking visitor for the 2024 Coca-Cola 600. According to the Charlotte Business Journal’s Erik Spanberg, Charlotte Motor Speedway general manager Greg Walter said he is “hearing that the 45th president of the United States, Donald Trump, is making plans to attend our race this weekend.”
Trump previously attended the 2020 Daytona 500 while serving as the President of the United States. According to WCNC Charlotte’s Nick Carboni, this would be the first time that a president attended a race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. In Trump’s last attended race in Daytona, his time was cut short after rain postponed the event.
It is unclear if Trump’s expected attendance would impact Kyle Larson’s attempt at “The Double” on May 26. Larson will start fifth in the 2024 Indianapolis 500 before flying to Charlotte for the Coca-Cola 600. There could be extra security and airspace restrictions. If this comes to fruition, Larson’s camp may have to create a game plan.
