Former UNC football wide receiver Tez Walker lands in first round of mock draft

UNC football wide receive Tez Walker is mocked to go to the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft.

North Carolina football fans only got to see Tez Walker for part of a season in 2023 after he transferred to the program from Kent State. With Walker’s eligibility denied for the first few games, he had to wait until late September to make his debut.

Even with that, Walker proved why fans were so high on him when he announced his decision to transfer to North Carolina. Walker became Drake Maye’s top target, finishing the year with 41 receptions for 699 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Walker is now heading to the NFL where he’s looking to hear his name called as early as possible. And one NFL draft analyst has him as a first-round pick.

Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com released his updated mock draft and he has the Kansas City Chiefs drafting Walker in the first round:

Rashee Rice has really come on for the Chiefs, but they need more firepower on the outside. Walker provides it.

That would be a really good situation for Walker to land in. He would get to play in Kansas City with Patrick Mahomes and they are a team that has a need for a wide receiver.

It’s likely Walker would get to come in and play meaningful snaps right away for the Chiefs to make an impact.
