A former top target for the Alabama Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator position last offseason, Ryan Grubb is now officially back on the coaching market, as the former Washington Huskies assistant was fired by the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks on Monday morning.
Grubb previously served as the Seahawks offensive coordinator for the 2024 season only, leading Seattle to an average of 22.1 points per game to rank at No. 18 in the NFL.
Prior to joining the Seahawks last offseason, Grubb was presumed to follow Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer to Tuscaloosa to become the offensive coordinator, but ultimately decided to remain in the northwest to join Seattle.
Before that, Grubb was a long-time member of DeBoer’s staff at Sioux Falls, Fresno State, and Washington under a variety of roles. The most notable of those came as offensive coordinator at Washington in 2022 and 2023 where he led the Huskies offense to an average of 39.7 PPG (No. 7 in NCAA) the first year, as well as 36 PPG (No. 13 in NCAA) the latter during their CFP runner-up finish.
Grubb was also a key factor in the development of former Washington and current Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. over those seasons, who developed into one of college football’s top signal callers.
With Grubb now back available, could the former Washington offensive coordinator reunite with DeBoer once again in Tuscaloosa?
