Former Auburn wide receiver [autotag]Koy Moore[/autotag] officially transferred to Western Kentucky on Thursday. After originally starting his collegiate career with LSU, Moore came to the Plains in June of 2022 before entering the portal for a second time this May. He’ll now join Western Kentucky as a senior with a year of eligibility remaining.
Moore hauled in 22 receptions for 177 yards as a freshmen in Baton Rouge but transferred to Auburn after he saw limited snaps in his sophomore campaign. The Kenner, LA native made an immediate impact for his new team, as he set a career high with 314 receiving yards and a touchdown with Auburn in 2022.
Unfortunately the 6-foot-1 pass catcher once again saw a dip in snaps and production following his first season with his new team, as Moore caught just 3 passes in 2024 as a Tiger. He did receive work as a punt returner, where he infamously muffed a punt in the fourth quarter of the Iron Bowl last season.
Moore now heads to Western Kentucky as an immediate high-end receiving option in a pass-heavy offense that just produced a third-round draft pick in the 2024 NFL draft, Malachi Corley. With a fresh start in a conference not as grueling as the SEC, Moore finally has the opportunity earn a large snap share and thrive.
He’ll have to wait until the second week of the season to fully get away from the SEC however, as his Hilltoppers travel to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama on August 31. It is very possible Moore could be catching passes from his former quarterback at Auburn and LSU, T.J. Finley, who also transferred to Western Kentucky earlier this summer.
