Former Thunder guards Chris Paul, Dennis Schroder face off with new teams

Chris Paul and Dennis Schroder, guards of last year’s OKC Thunder team, faced off as members of the Phoenix Suns and LA Lakers.

It didn’t take long for two of last year’s Oklahoma City Thunder stars to face off this year.

Chris Paul, now on the Phoenix Suns, played against Dennis Schroder, who is now on the Los Angeles Lakers, on Wednesday night.

Schroder’s Lakers went on a fourth-quarter rally against the Suns to take home the comeback 112-107 win, but Schroder left the game early due to an ankle injury.

He finished with seven points, four rebounds and three assists in 24 minutes. He was a starter alongside LeBron James, Kyle Kuzma, Anthony Davis and Marc Gasol.

Paul scored four points on 1-for-6 shooting, but he had eight rebounds and eight assists for Phoenix. He was a plus-nine in the game.

Paul had four of his assists in the third quarter, when the Suns went on a 36-19 run that gave them an 83-69 lead going into the fourth.

The bench units faced off in the final frame; neither Paul nor Schroder stepped onto the court. Kyle Kuzma was the only starter from either team who played during the final 12 minutes. He and Montrezl Harrell helped the Lakers go on a quick run and get within spitting distance, and then the deeper bench unit of Los Angeles took it the rest of the way.
