Baylor Cupp, who stands at a hulking 6’7″ and possesses unique speed at the tight end position, never found his place in his two years at Texas A&M, mostly caused by season-ending injuries that had seemingly derailed his football career that at one time looked to be on a star-studded trajectory.
Coming into 2022, it was understood that after only playing in 10 games last season behind now-departed Jalen Wydermeyer combined with the incoming recruiting class that included three 4-Star tight end signings, Cupp was facing a make it or break it sophomore season or the option of entering the transfer portal.
Cupp chose the latter and announced his commitment to continue his collegiate career with the Texas Tech Red Raider in Lubbock, TX.

Cupp noted his love for the Aggie program that continued to give him opportunities in an Instagram post, stating “As I start a new path on my journey I want to thank my teammates, coaches, and Texas A&M University for the last three years, the opportunities, experiences, and lessons learned. It’s been very special to be an Aggie and be part of the Aggie Family!” If Cupp stays healthy, he has a chance to become a pivotal piece to a Texas Tech offense that includes two other productive tight ends in Henry Teeter and Mason Tharp in the always high-scoring Big 12.
