Former Texas A&M quarterback Jaylen Henderson was one of the first Aggies to enter the transfer portal during the early portion of the offseason. The veteran signal-caller didn’t see the field during the 2024 season and is looking to start during his junior season.
Aggie fans will never forget Henderson for his late-season heroics during the 2023 season as the dual-threat athlete. He finished the year with a 2-2 starting record, including 715 yards, six touchdowns, two interceptions, 104 rushing yards, and two scores on the ground.
Henderson’s future with the Aggies was always in doubt after he dealt with several injuries during the 2024 season. His third-string standing on the quarterback depth chart was the writing on the wall that led to him entering the transfer portal for a second time in his collegiate career.
Knowing his skill set, one of the rising Big 12 teams came calling, as Henderson will join new head coach Rich Rodriguez and the West Virginia Mountaineers for the 2025 season and will contend for a starting job as soon as this spring.
Henderson is a perfect fit in Rodriguez’s high-scoring, fast-paced offense, and I can safely say that every Aggie fan will be excited to see him shine when he gets the chance.
