When the team we cover in college sports is in a lull, we tend to poke around the internet and find many interesting sports facts that we would usually miss.
An intriguing fact is that DeAndre Jordan, a former Texas A&M standout, has the highest field goal percentage in NBA/ABA history. Drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers in the second round in 2008, there was speculation that he might have benefitted from staying in college for an additional year to refine certain skills.
Initially, it seemed like he might have. Still, standing at 6’11” and over 260 lbs, the experience he gained during his first year in the league outweighed the benefits of staying an extra season around 2011-2012; he began to establish himself as one of the premier centers in the league. From 2013 to 2017, he led the NBA in field goal percentage, reaching a peak of .714.
On Christmas, it was pointed out on “X” that the three-time All-NBA center’s .6738 percentage after 17 seasons ranks him as No. 1 in league history.

Jordan remains active in the league as a player for the Denver Nuggets. He earned his first NBA Championship with the team in the 2022-2023 season, but he is approaching the end of his career after what will be 19 seasons. Perhaps he’s looking to retire after 20 seasons?
