A College Football Hall of Famer with ties to the University of Tennessee is headed to the National Football League.
Tracy Rocker served as the Volunteers’ defensive line coach under Jeremy Pruitt from 2018-19. He has been hired by the Philadelphia Eagles as their defensive line coach.
The Eagles recently hired former Indianapolis Colts’ offensive coordinator Nick Sirriani to fill their head coaching vacancy.
Rocker was most recently the defensive line coach at South Carolina. He was with the Gamecocks during the 2020 season.
Rocker played at Auburn where he won the Outland Trophy and the Lombardi Award, becoming the first Southeastern Conference player to do so. He was also a consensus All-America standout in 1988.
He was drafted by Washington in 1989 and played there for two seasons.
Rocker was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2004.
After his brief NFL playing career, Rocker began his coaching career as defensive coordinator at Auburn High School.
In addition, he has been defensive line coach in the college ranks for West Alabama, Troy, Cincinnati, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Auburn and Georgia.
He was also the Bulldogs’ associate head coach between 2014-16.
Rocker previously coached in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans, serving as their defensive line coach between 2011-13.
