There’s no question that rookie defensive back Marcus Jones was the most electric player on the football field for the New England Patriots last season.
Whether it was the walk-off punt returned for a touchdown against the New York Jets, the pick-six on Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow or the touchdown reception against the Buffalo Bills, Jones proved to be one of the biggest steals in the 2022 NFL draft.
His former teammate, 2023 receiver prospect Nathaniel “Tank” Dell, isn’t the least bit surprised by Jones’ immediate success at the next level.
“I feel like he’s built for that. He do that every game,” Dell said at the NFL Scouting Combine. “Like people say, like size and everything like that, but if you got it in you, you got it in you. You can’t coach a dog. Or you can coach a dog, but you can’t coach somebody how to make a play. He been doing it. I saw it like a thousand times.”
Spoke to Houston WR Tank Dell about former teammate @MarcusJonesocho. Dell says he talks to Marcus Jones often and watched him throughout the season. Dell wasn’t surprised at all to see Jones balling out with the #Patriots. pic.twitter.com/9FXJx7PlU4

Along with making the PFWA All-Rookie Team, Jones earned the nod as a First-team All-Pro in his first NFL season. It’s scary to think he hasn’t even scratched the surface of his full potential.
We could be witnessing the early beginnings of a future NFL star.
