We always keep an eye on former members of the Pittsburgh Steelers once they have moved on. So far in training camp we’ve seen Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Javon Hargrave suffer an injury and now there is news that another former Steeler is hurt.

According to ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter, former Steelers cornerback Artie Burns tore his ACL at Chicago Bears training camp on Tuesday.

The Steelers had high hopes for Burns when they drafted him in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft. It had been nearly two decades since the Steelers had spent a first-round pick on a cornerback.

But Burns was never a good scheme fit and ended up losing his spot in the starting lineup and was a healthy scratch six times last season. The Steelers chose not to re-sign Burns this offseason.

Burns had been working with the starters in Chicago before the injury. During his time with Pittsburgh Burns started 32 of a possible 58 games. Burns also has four career interceptions.
