Former Steeler Ramon Foster calls Mason Rudolph a ‘damn good quarterback’

Ramon Foster thinks Mason Rudolph should get a fair shot at a starting spot in Pittsburgh.

Mason Rudolph is the lost guy in the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback competition at training camp this year. But one of Rudolph’s former teammate, guard Ramon Foster, wants to be sure he endorses Rudolph and thinks he deserves a shot at the starting job.

Foster and Rudolph played together on the Steelers in 2019 when Rudolph got eight starts in place of an injured Ben Roethlisberger and went 5-3 in those starts.

So far in training camp, Rudolph has been very good and clearly has the best grasp of the Matt Canada offense. No one should be shocked if at worst Rudolph ends up the No. 2 quarterback at the start of the season. But if he consistently outplays Mitch Trubisky and Kenny Pickett, I suspect head coach Mike Tomlin won’t hesistate to put him in the starting lineup.
