The Philadelphia 76ers were kicked out of the bubble rather quickly after being bounced in Round 1 by the Boston Celtics so we’re going to take a look at former Sixers also in the playoffs.
One former Sixer that is always on the mind of the fanbase is former number 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz. After a disappointing Sixers career, Philadelphia dealt Fultz to the Orlando Magic at the 2019 trade deadline and in his first season in Orlando, Fultz made some strides.
He started 60 games in the regular season and then started all five games in the playoffs for the Magic. In the playoffs, he averaged 12.0 points, 5.2 assists, and he shot 37.5% from deep. He helped the Magic shock the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 1 as Orlando took the 1-0 lead, but the Bucks won four straight to eliminate them.
Fultz may not have the been big difference-maker the Sixers needed against the Celtics, but his ability to put the ball on the floor and create would have certainly helped. However, he probably would not have developed like this if he had stayed in Philadelphia due to his need for having the ball in his hands and the Sixers were running Ben Simmons at the point guard spot.
