Former Sixers in playoffs: Landry Shamet has heartbreak with Clippers

We take a look at former Philadelphia 76ers guard Landry Shamet in the playoffs for the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Philadelphia 76ers have been out of the playoffs for almost a month now after losing in Round 1 to the Boston Celtics, but there are a few former Sixers littered around the playoffs that had some success.

One of those guys is young Landry Shamet who Philadelphia selected in the 2018 NBA Draft and he was having a very good rookie season before being shipped to the Los Angeles Clippers in the Tobias Harris trade. Shamet has gone on to have some solid playoff performances and the 2020 playoffs were another example of that.

Shamet shot 35.7% from deep in 13 games these playoffs for the Clippers as he played a solid role next to Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. He shot 11-for-24 from deep in their series win over the Dallas Mavericks in Round 1.

Unfortunately, the Clippers blew a 3-1 lead in the Western semifinals to the Denver Nuggets and Shamet’s season was over. He did struggle a bit against the Nuggets shooting just 4-for-18 from deep in the series.

Shamet is a very good player who has a bright future in this league as a shooter. Most fans were upset to see him go in exchange for Harris, but Harris is still a very good player who can do a lot of things on the floor. You have to give up talent to get talent in this league.
