Former Sixers forward Wilson Chandler says he owes Joel Embiid money

Former Philadelphia 76ers forward, and current Brooklyn Nets wingman, Wilson Chandler says he still owes Joel Embiid money.

The NBA is a fast-moving business where most players are on different teams almost every season. For Brooklyn Nets forward Wilson Chandler, that has been the case the past few seasons as he has played for four different teams over the past three seasons.

His time with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2018-19 was brief, only 36 games with 32 games started before being moved to the Los Angeles Clippers in the Tobias Harris acquisition, but it was an enjoyable experience for him.

“Everybody was great, it’s kind of similar to here (in Brooklyn), a big staff, everybody’s loving, caring,” he said. “I’ve got a good relationship with a lot of guys over there (in Philadelphia). I talk to a lot of those guys, I had a great time there. They treated me well.”

Chandler singled out a few guys on the Sixers who he still talks to, including Harris who he was traded for, and he mentioned that he owes Joel Embiid some money.

“I talk to Joel, I still owe him money I think so, he’ll probably never get it,” he said with a laugh. “Furk (Korkmaz), Ben (Simmons) is cool, pretty much everybody. Even Tobias, he’s been cool, we didn’t play together over there, but he’s a good guy. I know him from playing against him.”

What is the cause for Chandler owing Embiid money?

“Cards man, it’s always cards,” he added. “It’s not too much though, he can afford it.”

Chandler made his debut for the Nets on Sunday against the Sixers after serving a 25-game suspension for violating the league’s drug policy. He had two points and seven rebounds in 19 minutes as they knocked off the Sixers 109-89. [lawrence-related id=21466,21449,21440]
