There is a lot of uncertainty heading into the 2020-21 NBA season so, at this point, a lot of players are considering all options for next season. Those options include going overseas and playing basketball in other leagues.
For former Philadelphia 76ers forward Jonathon Simmons, he has decided to take a deal with the Liaoning Flying Leopards over in China. He has an opt-out option should an opportunity in the NBA come along for him.
Simmons was acquired by the Sixers from the Orlando Magic in the Markelle Fultz trade of 2019. He only played in 15 games for the Sixers and averaged 5.5 points and 2.2 assists during his time before being traded to the Washington Wizards and he was then waived. His lack of playing time appeared to be the reason why he was happy to see Brett Brown fired back in August.
Per a source, Jonathon Simmons could opt out of his contract with the Liaoning Flying Leopards if he lands a guaranteed NBA deal. However, that seems unlikely. Simmons would have had to compete for a roster spot with the Warriors — or any other NBA team — in training camp. https://t.co/nMpOpIvfyC

Simmons had himself a solid start to his career with the San Antonio Spurs, but he was not able to keep it going in his career. [lawrence-related id=38189,38186,38183]
