Former Washington Redskins receiver Donald ‘Reche’ Caldwell was shot and killed on Saturday, according to the Around The NFL.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport confirmed that Caldwell, 41, was killed in Tampa, Florida on Saturday. Police have not released any victim information, but they are working on a homicide.
Caldwell was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in 2002, and he played for the New England Patriots in his career as well. His last year in the NFL was in 2007, with the Redskins. In his career, Caldwell totaled 152 receptions, 1,851 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns. His best season came with the Patriots in 2006 when he had 61 catches for 760 yards and four scores during a New England run to the AFC Championship Game.
