Former Ravens WR Marquise Brown talks about new role with Cardinals

Former Ravens wide receiver Marquise Brown discussed his new role with the Cardinals

The Baltimore Ravens’ impressive 2022 draft class came at the expense of losing one of their talented players in wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown. The wideout requested a trade, as he said the system in Baltimore wasn’t for him. Baltimore granted his wish, and Brown went on to become one of the newest members of the Arizona Cardinals, reuniting with his Kyler Murray in the process, who was his college quarterback at the University of Oklahoma.

The Ravens’ offense is a run-first one, which is one of the reasons why Brown ultimately decided it was best to take his talents elsewhere. When the team did commit to the pass, Brown and tight end Mark Andrews ate up most of the targets, which forced teams to focus on those two players extensively, sometimes even double covering the duo.

When speaking to the Cardinals’ team website, Brown opened up about some of the details pertaining to his recent trade. He talked about how he’s excited to get one-on-one matchups, as well as how for him it’s not about the targets, but the type of targets.

Arizona wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins was suspended for the first six games of the 2022 season, so Brown may need to wait to see some of those one-on-one matchups that he’s so excited for. Regardless, Brown possesses playmaking ability that the Cardinals and Murray should look forward to having in their offense.
