Former Patriots Super Bowl champ questioning Bill Belichick’s legacy after loss to Raiders

One of Belichick’s former players is now questioning his legacy as the all-time great.

Asante Samuel, a former New England Patriots two-time Super Bowl champion and Bill Belichick player, is beginning to question the very legacy of his former head coach.

The former All-Pro cornerback was once considered by many as one of the best defensive backs in football. And yet, despite playing his best years under Belichick, he refuses to put the legendary coach on a pedestal as the greatest of all time.

Following the Patriots’ humiliating loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, Samuel questioned Belichick’s legacy, particularly the years without Tom Brady, in a social media post.

He asked, “Will Belichick be considered one of the greatest ever if he can’t win without Brady?!”

Some will say the Brady over Belichick argument will always be a thing until the Patriots coach proves he can win without the greatest quarterback of all time.

Brady left New England and won a Super Bowl in his first year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Meanwhile, Belichick’s Patriots have yet to win even one playoff game.

Others might argue none of that even matters given Belichick’s complete body of work. Whatever the case may be, it’s clear that not everyone, including former players, view the Patriots coach as the undisputed all-time great.
