Former Panthers tight end Greg Olsen just announced his retirement from the NFL on FOX’s pregame show ahead of the NFC Championship game.

He will be joining their broadcast team as an analyst, per Bob Condotta at The Seattle Times.

Olsen played in Carolina for nine years, spanning the 2011-2019 seasons. In 126 games in a Panthers uniform, he totaled 524 catches, 6,463 yards and 39 touchdowns. He was a three-time Pro Bowler and the best receiver former quarterback Cam Newton ever worked with outside Steve Smith.

Olsen began his playing career in Chicago with the Bears and finished with the Seahawks. He may have an outside shot at the Hall of Fame. Olsen will become eligible in 2026.

While it’s sad to see Olsen hang up his cleats, the football world is getting a brilliant analyst. Olsen has shown a talent for color commentary and insightful analysis in the handful of Fox games he’s called.
