Former Packers WR Tavon Austin signing with Jaguars

The Jaguars are signing former Packers WR and returner Tavon Austin, one of the team’s last remaining free agents.

One of the last remaining free agents for the Green Bay Packers has found a new home during training camp.

Receiver and returner Tavon Austin will sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Austin, 30, signed with the Packers in December of last year and played in four games, mostly as a gadget weapon on offense and returner. He caught five passes for 20 yards, returned three punts for 14 yards and lost a fumble.

Austin was also active for both playoff games but didn’t record a touch on offense. He returned two punts for 17 yards.

The Packers had no need for Austin after using a third-round pick on Amari Rodgers, who could play a similar role as a rookie in 2021.

Among the unsigned free agents for the Packers are Damon Harrison, Tyler Ervin, John Lovett and Billy Winn. Jared Veldheer retired, and it’s possible Rick Wagner is also retiring.
