Former Packers WR Darrius Shepherd signing with Kansas City Chiefs

The former Packers receiver is signing with the AFC champions.

A former wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers is signing with the Kansas City Chiefs.

According to Nate Taylor of The Athletic, receiver Darrius Shepherd will sign with the Chiefs after trying out during the team’s minicamp.

Shepherd, an undrafted free agent from North Dakota State, played in 14 games for the Packers over the last two seasons. He caught five passes for 46 yards and returned 20 kickoffs for 374 yards (one fumble) and three punts for -3 yards (one fumble).

Shepherd, 25, averaged 7.8 yards per catch and 4.7 yards per target. One of his five catches gained a first down. His lost fumble on a kickoff return was a pivotal play late during a loss to the Indianapolis Colts last season.

Shepherd, who grew up in the Kansas City area, was a rookie minicamp tryout for the Packers in 2019.

The Packers waived Shepherd on Dec. 1 of last year. The Chiefs are his first team since leaving Green Bay.
