Former Packers OT Caleb Jones lands with Patriots, Kenneth Odumegu to Seahawks

Two former Packers — Caleb Jones and Kenneth Odumegwu — landed on practice squads around the NFL this week.

Two former members of the Green Bay Packers landed on practice squads ahead of Week 1 of the regular season. The New England Patriots signed offensive tackle Caleb Jones, while the Seattle Seahawks signed defensive end Kenneth Odumegwu.

Jones spent time on the Packers’ 53-man roster during each of the last two seasons. He failed to win a job this summer as the swing tackle — losing out to Andre Dillard, Kadeem Telfort and rookie Travis Glover — and sought an opportunity elsewhere. To make room for Jones, the Patriots released former Packers defensive end Brevin Allen, who spent part of training camp in Green Bay.

Odumegwu, who spent all of last season on the practice squad, was released by the Packers last month in a transaction that allowed rookie kicker Alex Hale to become the team’s new designated international player through the International Player Pathway program. He will now be Seattle’s international player, allowing the Seahawks to carry 17 players on the practice squad. Odumegwu, a Nigerian native, played 11 snaps for the Packers during the 2024 preseason, registering one tackle and one hurry. Just learning football when he arrived in Green Bay, Odumegwu made significant progress over a year and a half with the Packers.

Other former Packers currently on practice squads around the NFL include offensive tackle Luke Tenuta (Arizona Cardinals), cornerback Kevin King (Atlanta Falcons), receiver Samori Toure (Chicago Bears), cornerback Tony Brown (Cleveland Browns), tight end Josiah Deguara (Jacksonville Jaguars), quarterback Tim Boyle (Miami Dolphins), tight end Robert Tonyan (Minnesota Vikings), guard Michael Jordan (Patriots), safety Johnathan Abram (New Orleans Saints), receiver Equanimeous St. Brown (Saints), linebacker Ty Summers (New York Giants), guard Jake Hanson (New York Jets), cornerback Zyon Gilbert (Pittsburgh Steelers), offensive lineman John Leglue (Steelers), defensive end Jonathan Garvin (San Francisco 49ers) and quarterback Michael Pratt (Tampa Bay Buccaneers).

Jones, Odumegwu, Tenuta, Toure and Pratt were with the Packers during training camp.
