A former Oklahoma running back is in major trouble for the second time in three years.
Roy Finch played for the Sooners from 2010-13, accumulating 1,412 yards on 262 carries. He spent time after that on NFL and CFL rosters, then returned back to the state of Oklahoma.
On early Tuesday morning, he was arrested and booked into the Cleveland County Jail for aggravated domestic assault and interference with an emergency phone call. On Wednesday, the state of Oklahoma opened a criminal felony case on two counts against Finch for domestic assault and battery resulting in great bodily harm and disruption, prevention and interruption of an emergency phone call.
The incident took place in Norman, Oklahoma.
According to a police report and affidavit from the Norman Police Department obtained by Sooners Wire, Finch and the victim were arguing before the victim picked up a belt to defend herself. He reportedly took the belt out of the victim’s hand and then slapped her with an open hand so hard that it resulted in open fractures on her jaw. Officers at the scene noticed dried blood on the victim’s lips and that she had a hard time opening her mouth.
The report states that the victim tried to call police, but that Finch kept getting in the way, including grabbing her wrist to to stop her from dialing the phone. The victim then went into a different room where her sister was located and an emergency phone call was made. After the victim was taken to the emergency room, it was determined that she had a broken jaw.
The victim filed for an emergency victim’s protection order that was granted on Tuesday morning. The official hearing on the protection order will take place on June 29.
In 2018, Finch was arrested in Oklahoma county, and charged with felony count of assault and battery against a police officer, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana. Earlier in 2018, he was arrested for a misdemeanor of reckless driving and possession of controlled substance in Lincoln County.
In Jan. of 2019, Finch was charged with felony domestic abuse and kidnapping of a kid, but those chargers were later dismissed.
