The Oklahoma connections are getting deeper at Rocky Top. Former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback [autotag]Landry Jones[/autotag] is joining [autotag]Josh Heupel[/autotag] and [autotag]Joey Halzle[/autotag] as an offensive analyst, according to On3’s VolQuest.
Jones was a fourth-round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers and spent five seasons as a backup. Jones played in 18 games during his career and made five starts, throwing for 1,310 yards and eight touchdowns.
He reunited with Bob Stoops for one season in 2020 as the starting quarterback for the Dallas Renegades of the XFL.
He had a prolific career as a passer under Heupel, becoming the Sooners’ all-time leading passer. He hopes to be a part of developing former five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava at Tennessee.
The Volunteers had a good season in 2024, finishing 10-3 and making the College Football Playoff in the first year of the 12-team field.
