Former Oklahoma LB Teddy Lehman calls Texas QB Quinn Ewers ‘average’

Teddy Lehman continues his bizarre crusade against the Quinn Ewers hype this week.

Former Oklahoma linebacker Teddy Lehman doesn’t mince words. He didn’t start this week.

Lehman shared a few more wild takes this week on the Texas football team. Among those takes were that the Longhorns’ quarterback Quinn Ewers is just “average.” According the the Oklahoma podcaster, “almost anyone can do the stuff (Quinn Ewers) has done.”

The take is strong but on brand for Lehman. His doubt of this Texas team dates back to the offseason but new data, like watching Ewers dismantle an elite Alabama defense, has apparently had no change on Lehman’s view of the team’s quarterback.

This week’s comments are not the first time Lehman has tried to take Ewers down a notch. Last season, the former Oklahoma linebacker shared that Hudson Card should start over Ewers because of Card’s strong performance against West Virginia the week before the game.

Ewers, of course, shredded the Oklahoma defense in the 49-0 victory, going 21-for-31 with 289 passing yards and four touchdowns.

We don’t know if Ewers will be average in the Cotton Bowl, but he’s been stellar so far this season. He looks to move to 2-0 against the Sooners in Saturday’s game at 11 a.m. CT on ABC.
