Bobby Jack Wright, former associate head coach and co-defensive coordinator for Oklahoma under Bob Stoops, is re-retiring.
Wright coached the Victoria school district for one year, but will be heading back into retirement in June.
“It’s been a fun year,” Wright told Advosports’ Mike Forman. “I gave them a commitment of one year and I’m ready to move on.”
Wright was unanimously approved as the VISD’s new athletic director in late May following the former AD’s retirement. His tenure began on July 1 of 2019.
Wright, who coached the Sooners from 1999-2014, was originally hired on as a recruiter, primarily in the state of Texas. Prior to his time at Oklahoma, he coached at North Texas as an assistant from 1983-1985, and the University of Texas from 1986-1996.
Wright’s most notable accomplishment with Oklahoma was being a part of the Sooners last national championship team.
