Former Ohio State wide receiver C.J. Saunders has officially signed an NFL contract and is on an active roster.
After missing 2019 with a knee injury, then having to deal with the NCAA’s denial of his appeal for a sixth year because of that injury, Saunders has had to battle through adversity and come out the other side. He spent 2020 as a student assistant because of not having a place to play and participated in Ohio State’s pro day hoping to catch an NFL team’s eye.
He did just that, landing a tryout with the Atlanta Falcons, and now he has signed on with the Carolina Panthers. That means he will now be in an NFL camp competing for a spot, trying to survive all the cuts that are made towards the season.

It’ll still be an uphill climb for someone that has come off the radar to make the squad, but at least he’s now got that chance after so much didn’t go his way. Saunders already beat the odds when he earned a scholarship at Ohio State in 2018 after walking on to the team to get his career started.
We of course will be following Saunders and wishing him all the best.
