Former Nets wing David Nwaba gets new opportunity with Rockets

David Nwaba suffered a season-ending surgery with the Brooklyn Nets earlier in 2019-20, but now he has a new team.

After playing very sparingly throughout the Brooklyn Nets’ first 17 games of the 2019-20 season, David Nwaba carved out a role for himself by mid-December. The wing always had something to offer on the defensive end, but he was starting to provide some help on the offensive end off the bench, as well.

Then on December 19, Nwaba’s season came to an end. He ruptured his right Achilles and underwent surgery the next day.

He logged 20 games in a Brooklyn uniform, averaging 5.2 points per game while playing 13.4 minutes a night. Though, in his last 10 games, Nwaba averaged 8.5 points per game on 50.8% shooting (44% from deep) while playing 16.9 minutes per game.

Two weeks after his surgery, the Nets released Nwaba.

But now the former Brooklyn wing is getting another chance. Nwaba is joining the Houston Rockets:

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Nwaba is getting a two-year deal. He will earn “$900K-plus” to finish 2019-20 with a team option for 2020-21, per Charania.
