Former New Jersey Nets big man Cliff Robinson died on Saturday at the age of 53. UConn men’s basketball announced the sad news about their alum on Twitter.
After spending eight seasons in Portland — one of which was an All-Star campaign (1993-94) — the 1989 second-round pick moved to Phoenix for the next four years of his NBA career.
Robinson then went to Detroit for a year before joining the Warriors. The big man spent one full year in Golden State, then in the middle of 2004-05 Robinson went from the West Coast to the East to play for the Nets.
Robinson spent the last 2.5 years of his NBA career in a Nets uniform.
While playing 21.5 minutes per game throughout the 159 games in which he played for New Jersey, Robinson averaged 5.8 points and three rebounds per game.
Robinson was also a two-time All-NBA Defensive team member, and he was once named Sixth Man of the Year.
