Five players were announced as the newest inductees into the 2020 class of the NFL Hall of Fame, and one is a name that’s quite familiar in Ann Arbor.

With an NFL career spanning from his five years with the Seattle Seahawks to his six with the Minnesota Vikings to his sole season with the Tennessee Titans, former Michigan offensive guard Steve Hutchinson was more than just an anchor on solid offensive lines.

He was violent out there.

Hutchinson was at Michigan for five years, redshirting his first year and switching from defensive tackle to offensive guard. In his tenure, he won a national championship in 1997 and was the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2000. Upon graduating in 2000, he was selected with the 17th overall pick in the first round of that year’s NFL Draft, selected by the Seattle Seahawks.

As a pro, Hutchinson made seven Pro Bowls and was selected as a first-team All-Pro five times in his career. He retired after the 2012 season.

He joins RB Edgerrin James, S Steve Atwater, WR Isaac Bruce and S Troy Polamalu in the 2020 NFL Hall of Fame class.
