It’s been a rocky road for former Michigan football wide receiver Tarik Black.
Black was a part of a 2017 class that featured four big-time receivers the Wolverines were bringing in. Donovan Peoples-Jones, Oliver Martin, and Nico Collins all came to Ann Arbor along with Black in 2017.
But injuries plagued the talented Black and he spent just three seasons in Ann Arbor battling injuries and struggling to go up the depth chart by his junior season. Black transferred to Texas to finish his collegiate career.
After his college days, Black went undrafted in the 2021 NFL Draft but signed with the Indianapolis Colts as a free agent. He never played with the Colts and signed with the New York Jets in 2022 to their practice squad. Black did catch one pass as a Jet in the NFL last season.
Black ended on the Baltimore Ravens practice squad at the season’s end in 2022. He must have done enough to impress John Harbaugh and the Ravens because they announced the signing of Black on Wednesday.

The details of the signing weren’t announced as of this writing, but Black has made the initial 90-man roster.
Black has some work ahead of him to make the roster, but the Ravens are in dire need of receiving help, so he has a chance to carve out a role for the 53-man roster.
