Former LSU linebacker Marcel Brooks says he has received immediate eligibility play for TCU this year, according to a Twitter post on Friday afternoon.
In his single season at LSU, Brooks saw action in 11 games and recorded eight tackles and 1.5 sacks.
So, the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder doesn’t exactly bring a lot of experience to the program, but the potential, versatility and athletic ability he brings to the table should certainly help Gary Patterson’s defense.
He originally transferred to the Horned Frogs back in mid-July, after being considered a candidate to see more playing time in the LSU defense after it lost the likes of linebackers Patrick Queen, Jacob Phillips, Michael Divinity Jr. and K’Lavon Chaisson.
Brooks, a prospect out of Flower Mound, Texas was the third-highest ranked player in LSU’s 2019 recruiting class, trailing cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. and running back John Emery Jr.
I want thank the @NCAA for approving my waiver to be eligible to play this year 🙇🏾‍♂️ big blessing

Expect Brooks to be a difference-maker for TCU moving forward. The Horned Frogs are set to open their season against the TCU will open its season at home against Iowa State on Sept. 26.
