Some sad news from the NFL. Longtime Detroit Lions assistant coach Stan Kwan has passed away.
The San Francisco 49ers announced Kwan’s passing. He last coached for the 49ers, serving as their special teams assistant from 2017-2020. Kwan was just 54 years old.
Kwan had two separate coaching stints with the Lions. He was an offensive and special teams assistant from 1997-200 under head coach Bobby Ross. After a few years with the Cardinals, Kwan returned in 2004 as the assistant special teams coach. He was elevated to the full special teams coach in 2007 and served in that role through the end of the Rod Marinelli era and into the first season under Jim Schwartz in 2009.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kwan’s family.
