Defensive Tackle Micaiah Overton, brother of recent 2022 5-Star Aggie commit, defensive tackle Lebbeus Overton, has announced on social media that he has accepted an offer to transfer to Texas A&M University as a preferred walk on.
Overton is a graduate of the Bessemer Academy in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and was a member of the 2019 class as a 3-Star tight end recruit. From there he was recruited to play at Liberty University as a tight end but later chose to switch to the defensive line, bulking up, and making his current frame a noteworthy 6’3″ 300lb. Overall, Overton’s production as a defensive tackle at the school is extremely thin, accounting for only 1 solo tackle in his entire career at liberty, which may have to do with the learning curve at the position, still possessing raw power and ability that may give him a chance to claim a spot in the young A&M defensive line rotation.
Blessed to receive and accept an offer from Texas A&M University! Looking forward to continuing as a legacy, plus having the opportunity to play with my brother again! GigEm 👍🏾#AggiesAllTheWay #AggieUp #gigem pic.twitter.com/ajH6IVTDn3

His Commitment to the Aggies comes as no surprise to many, being that the news that Micaiah and Lebbeus were visiting schools together during Lebbeus’s recruiting process before his commitment to A&M, meaning that it was potentially just a matter of time before Micaiah found himself sporting maroon and white. For the Aggies, Overton’s commitment provides needed depth at the defensive tackle position, as in the SEC, dominating in the trenches may be the difference between winning games week in and week out.
