After the Los Angeles Lakers parted ways with the centers who were on their team last season around LeBron James and Anthony Davis, they also saw another part of their team from last season join another team in free agency.
Former Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins, who didn’t play a game with the Lakers due to suffering a torn ACL in the run-up to last season but stayed with the team for much of the regular season, has agreed to join the Houston Rockets, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic/Stadium. It had been reported earlier in free agency by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that Cousins was drawing a lot of early interest around the league.

Cousins’ All-Star career has been derailed by injuries since he tore his Achilles with the Pelicans, a quad injury with the Warriors and his ACL injury during the offseason as a Laker. However, while he’s still reportedly working towards getting ready, the Rockets have good reason to give Cousins a try at hopefully helping revive a Houston team with two currently disgruntled former MVPs in James Harden and Russell Westbrook.
