Former Kentucky guard D.J. Wagner is transferring to the Arkansas Razorbacks

D.J. Wagner took his time making a decision on where to transfer to, but has finally made his choice. He will reunite with John Calipari and play for the Arkansas Razorbacks next season.

Wagner came to Kentucky as one of the nation’s top recruits. He was the number six overall player in the 2023 class for 247sports and given a five-star grade.

Last season, Wagner showed of a nice ability to drive to the rim, and was solid as a defender, but he struggled with his jumpshot. He averaged 9.9 points and 3.3 assists per game. He made 40% of his overall field goals, but only shot 29% from deep. Injuries slowed him as well, and even forced him to miss a few games.

Wagner now heads to Arkansas, hoping to improve enough to be an NBA draft pick next year. Calipari has a strong history of getting players to the next level, and Wagner is certainly talented. Cal also brought in other talented players, though, so time will tell whether or not Wagner’s Sophomore season will be a success.
